Hyderabad: The National Institute of Geoinformatics Science and Technology (NIGST), Hyderabad, has received the prestigious ‘UTTAM’ accreditation from the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), recognising its excellence in geospatial education and training.
A CBC team led by Ch. Venkateswar Rao conducted a thorough assessment of NIGST’s training programs, evaluating their alignment with the eight pillars of the National Standards for Civil Service Training Institutions (NSCSTI). These include training needs analysis, course design, faculty development, infrastructure, digital delivery, collaboration, trainee support, and governance.
This accreditation highlights NIGST’s role as a leading institute in geospatial sciences. Earlier, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh encouraged the Surveyor General of India to develop NIGST into a national Center of Excellence for professional training in geospatial technology.
