Hyderabad: Customers at post offices across Hyderabad and Telangana on Wednesday had to wait for hours as computer systems operated at a snail’s pace. “It was even worse on Monday,” said a regular Speed Post client.

Postal staff speaking on condition of anonymity revealed that they have faced numerous technical issues since the adoption of the new software, Advanced Postal Technology (APT) 2.0. The system frequently hangs when processing Speed Post entries, frustrating customers and placing employees under pressure.

Attempts to reach the Chief Postmaster General, Telangana, Dr P.V.S. Reddy, went in vain.

Launched in July, the APT 2.0 project spans all 5,727 post offices in the Telangana Circle, including 32 head post offices, 689 sub post offices, and 5,006 branch post offices. The public was informed that services would be unavailable on July 21 to install the new software.

According to postal authorities, APT 2.0 is designed to enhance the customer experience by leveraging digital tools and interfaces for faster, more transparent, and doorstep-enabled services. The upgraded IT infrastructure now supports service delivery across four key channels.
