HYDERABAD: Labour, employment, mines and geology minister G. Vivek Venkataswamy said the state government’s crackdown on the sand mafia will be intensified further while announcing a new policy for gig workers’ welfare and the expansion of skill development centres.
Addressing a media conference at the Secretariat on Monday, to mark one year in office, the minister said the Congress government has prioritised public welfare, employment generation, and industrial development.
Venkataswamy announced that the government is finalising a special policy for gig workers, which will include social security, insurance, and healthcare benefits. He said that the government will show zero tolerance towards the sand mafia.
He said special monitoring teams have been deployed and strict action will be taken against those involved in illegal transportation and mining that cause revenue loss to the state.
In a major boost to skill development, Venkataswamy announced the new advanced training centre in Chennur will equip unemployed youth with training in emerging technologies and open doors to better employment opportunities.
