Hyderabad: Saroornagar police, investigating the kidney racket, have said that some nephrologists had played a crucial role by giving details of dialysis patients to brokers, who then approached families of the patients with organ transplantation offers.
Meanwhile, in a major development, the district medical and health officer seized the infamous Arunasree hospital, where four illegal kidney transplantation surgeries had allegedly taken place last December.
It may be called that Janani hospital, where 56 illegal transplants had taken place, and Alakananda hospital, where the scam was exposed, were sealed earlier.
During the investigation, the police identified the role of nephrologists in suggesting to the dialysis patients on going in for transplantation, which was their ‘last survival hope’.

Meanwhile, Saroornagar police with the help of Rangareddy DMHO opened the hospital and seized the kit used for performing the transplantation surgery. The kit will play a major role as evidence in court.
Meanwhile, the police have issued lookout notices for accused mediators Laxman, who is currently in Colombo, and Poorna, who is in Andhra Pradesh.
