Hyderabad: Rangareddy deputy excise commissioner P. Dasharath on Thursday ordered the immediate destruction of 2,700 kg of ganja and the auction of 650 vehicles which were seized by 20 excise police stations across the district.
Chairing a review meeting, Dasharath said when cases are being filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, they need to be backed up by foolproof chargesheets.
He said the menace of drugs can only be fought by increasing the conviction rate of peddlers. He said, "If chargesheets are filed properly, the conviction rates will be high. Only when punishments are handed out, will the miscreants get scared."
