National ST Commission Committed To Resolving Tribal Issues
The meeting reviewed issues relating to tribal welfare, housing, healthcare, panchayat raj, roads and buildings, forests, revenue, education, agriculture, municipal administration, excise and policing.
NIZAMABAD: The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) is committed to resolving the problems faced by tribal communities, said commission member Jatothu Hussain Naik. He urged officials of various departments to discharge their responsibilities without negligence and create awareness among tribals about the commission's role in addressing their grievances.
During his visit to Nizamabad district on Wednesday, Hussain Naik visited Sarpanch thanda, Gaddameedi thanda, Kondapur and Gopya thanda in Sirikonda mandal, besides Man Singh thanda in Navipet mandal. He interacted with tribal residents, enquired about their problems and inspected the facilities available in the settlements. He also sought details of the basic amenities yet to be provided.
Later, he held a review meeting with district collector Ila Tripathi, Commissioner of Police P. Sai Chaitanya and officials from various departments at the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC).
The meeting reviewed issues relating to tribal welfare, housing, healthcare, panchayat raj, roads and buildings, forests, revenue, education, agriculture, municipal administration, excise and policing. Hussain Naik asked officials to approach tribal grievances with a humanitarian outlook and ensure timely solutions.
He stressed that eligible tribal families should be provided permanent houses and electricity connections without delay. If remote tribal villages and thandas lack protected drinking water facilities, officials should submit proposals under the Jal Jeevan Mission, he said, adding that the Centre would release funds promptly. He also cautioned officials against neglecting road connectivity, education, healthcare and other essential services.
Hussain Naik advised representatives of tribal organisations to first approach local officials and submit their grievances through platforms such as Prajavani. If their problems remained unresolved, they could approach the NCST through its grievance portal.
Pointing out that many people were unaware of the commission's services, he said the NCST could provide free and speedy redressal of tribal grievances and called for wider public awareness of the facility.
Additional collectors B. Raja Goud and V. Bhujangarao, district forest officer Prashanth Bajirao Patil, Armoor sub-collector Abhiyan Malviya, additional DCP Shubham Nagrale, trainee collector Suresh, NCST director Kalyan Reddy, DRO B. Geetha, Nizamabad RDO Rajendra Kumar and officials from various departments attended the meeting.
