Nalgonda: Huge Fire Near Temple Leaves 17 Shops Gutted

Nalgonda: A major fire broke out at a toy shop near the Sri Parvati Jadala Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple at Cheruvugattu, under Narketpally mandal in Nalgonda district, shortly after midnight on Saturday.

As a large number of devotees had visited the temple on the occasion of Tholi Ekadasi, the shops had witnessed heavy business during the day.

The blaze spread rapidly, engulfing 17 shops and 15 parked mini trucks, reducing them to ashes.

According to local residents, two gas cylinders are suspected to have exploded due to the intensity of the fire, although officials are yet to confirm the cause. The fire also spread to the nearby Gram Panchayat office, where a few documents were damaged.

Three fire engines were rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after several hours of firefighting.

According to preliminary estimates, the fire caused property damage worth around Rs. 2.5 crore.

As the incident occurred late at night, no one was present inside the shops, preventing any loss of life. No casualties or injuries were reported. Police suspect that the fire may have been triggered by faulty electrical wiring in one of the shops.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is underway.
