Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday directed Congress leaders to treat the upcoming Telangana municipal elections as highly prestigious and ensure there were no lapses in the selection of candidates.
Participating in an online meeting from the United States, the Chief Minister reviewed preparations for the municipal polls with party leaders after the completion of the nomination process. He instructed Parliament constituency in-charges and party leaders to chalk out the next course of action with a clear focus on winning every division and ward.
Revanth Reddy stressed that Congress candidates must be strong enough to take on nominees of the BJP and the BRS. He asked leaders to hold discussions with rebel candidates and resolve issues through coordination to avoid internal damage to the party.
The meeting was attended by TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, party state affairs in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers, senior leaders and DCC presidents.
The Chief Minister also called for special attention to municipalities where the Congress is relatively weak and emphasised the need for seamless coordination between constituency in-charges and ministers, leaving no scope for communication gaps within the party.
