Adilabad: A large number of aspirants are thronging the offices of major political parties, Congress, BRS and BJP, and approaching senior leaders following reports that the State government is likely to conduct municipal elections shortly. As the elections will be contested on party lines, political parties are expected to issue tickets and field official candidates.

Aspirants have begun submitting their bio-data to District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents and senior party leaders, urging them to consider their seniority, service and commitment to the party while allotting tickets for the municipal polls.

In Adilabad, leaders from the Muslim minority community met Adilabad DCC president Naresh Jadhav and submitted a memorandum seeking ticket allocation in proportion to their population in the upcoming municipal elections. Leaders from other communities are also holding meetings with Khanapur MLA and Nirmal DCC president Vedma Bojju to press their claims.

Several aspirants have already begun grassroots outreach by extending donations to religious and community events in municipal colonies, signalling the early start of campaign activity.

Adilabad, Nirmal and Mancherial are among the major municipalities in the erstwhile Adilabad district where political activity has picked up significantly ahead of the polls.
