Karimnagar: Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamshi Krishna conducted a field inspection and reviewed the progress of the proposed Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Odela Railway Station on Monday, following the Centre’s green signal for the project in Peddapalli district. During the visit, the MP held discussions with senior railway officials to examine the site and assess the proposed alignment, stressing that the project must prioritise public convenience while minimising property loss for local residents.
The inspection followed Vamshi Krishna’s intervention during the recent Parliament Winter Session, where he raised the Odela ROB issue with Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Responding to the request, the minister stated that the Railways was ready to initiate the required technical studies and groundwork, and advised the MP to participate in on-ground inspections to ensure the project addresses local concerns.
Accordingly, the MP joined railway engineers and officials for the site visit on Monday. He reviewed the ROB alignment maps prepared by the technical team and instructed officials, including Prasad and Sushanth, to ensure the alignment causes minimal inconvenience to the public. He underlined the need for a low-rehabilitation approach, with minimal displacement of families and businesses.
Providing an update on infrastructure development in the constituency, the MP said several other ROB projects are at various stages of planning, including those at LC-39 in Kunaram, LC-46 in Peddampet, LC-49 in Kundanpally and LC-48 in Cheekurayi.
He said the ROB at Gaureddypeta has already received 100 per cent funding sanction, while estimates for the ROB at LC-44 in Andugulapalli are nearing completion. He urged officials to expedite these projects to ease long-pending traffic congestion at railway crossings.
Apart from reviewing the ROB proposal, the MP interacted with passengers at Odela Railway Station to understand their daily problems. Commuters flagged issues such as the lack of clean drinking water and functional toilet facilities at the station.
Expressing concern, Vamshi Krishna assured passengers that he would immediately take up these basic amenity issues with the Railway authorities to ensure better facilities for travellers.
