Motorists to Get Relief as Saidabad-Santoshnagar Flyover to Open in Aug
The Commissioner said the construction of the 3.3- km long flyover was taken up at a cost of Rs.620 crore
Hyderabad: Here’s some good news for motorists travelling from Nalgonda crossroads near Malakpet and heading towards Saidabad and IS Sadan near Santoshnagar as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is gearing up to open the newly constructed flyover in August.
This was stated by the GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan after inspecting the construction works here on Tuesday. He along with the Chief Engineer S Ratnakar and senior engineering wing officials inspected the ongoing works at the flyover and reviewed the progress to ensure its timely completion.
During the inspection, the Commissioner directed officials to expedite all pending works, including laying BT road on the flyover in addition to laying service roads and completion of the Akbarbagh up-ramp and remaining ramps, installation of crash barriers, road markings, street lighting, horticulture and landscaping works beneath the flyover.
Speaking to media persons, he said the construction of the 3.3- km long flyover was taken up at a cost of Rs.620 crore. The work expedited in the last one year after completing land acquisition.
The works progressed at a tardy pace earlier due the land acquisition followed by legal issues. However, the works gained momentum in the last one year. “We will open the flyover for the convenience of motorists in August,” he said.
One ramp of the flyover, which starts at Akberbagh, will land at Saidabad heading towards Karmanghat and another at IS Sadan proceeding towards Owaisi Hospital and RGIA in Shamshabad.
It used to take 45 minutes to reach IS Sadan from Akberbagh due to traffic chaos. Once the flyover is opened, the travelling time for those travelling from Akberbagh to IS Sadan would be reduced to eight minutes as against 45 minutes, explained Ratnakar.
He said the new flyover would overcome the traffic woes being faced by the motorists travelling from Akberbagh to IS Sadan visa Saidabad.
