WARANGAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the PM MITRA Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Hyderabad on May 10. The project, spread over 1,327 acres in Geesukonda mandal, marks the launch of a large textile park under the Centre’s scheme.

The project involves infrastructure development of about Rs 1,700 crore and is part of the PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) scheme. The initiative is aligned with the ‘5F’ framework aimed at integrating the textile value chain from raw material to exports.

Officials said the park is designed to reduce logistics costs and improve competitiveness of Indian textile exports by bringing multiple stages of production to a single location.

The facility includes internal road networks, a 232/132/33 kV power substation and a 12 MLD water supply system. A Common Effluent Treatment Plant with Zero Liquid Discharge technology has also been set up for waste management.

The project, launched in 2017, was later designated as a brownfield project under the PM MITRA scheme and received a central grant of Rs.200 crore.

Officials said the park has attracted private investments exceeding Rs 3,800 crore from companies including Ganesha Ecosphere and Youngone Corporation, which have begun operations. Additional investments are expected, including from Kitex Garments.

About 2,000 workers are currently employed at the site. The government estimates that the project will generate direct employment for around 24,400 people in the region.
