Hyderabad:The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) has decided to file criminal cases against M/s Zreni Solution Ltd over allegedly unsafe excavation near two Hyderabad Metro Rail pillars close to the Iskcon Sri Sri Radha Gopinath Mandir in Secunderabad.

The excavation was alleged to have damaged pillars C-1192 and C-1193. However, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) said its technical assessment had found no indication that the work had affected the structural integrity of the pillars.

In a statement issued on Saturday, HMRL said Zreni Solution Ltd had undertaken the excavation without obtaining its prior permission or clearance and without informing it about the commencement of the work. A notice was subsequently served on the licencee.

HMRL officials said they learnt about the excavation later, following which engineers inspected the site and examined the matter with reference to available as-built structural drawings, technical inputs and site conditions.

According to HMRL, the minor surface cracks visible in some images were not on the main Metro Rail piers but on the crash barrier. It described the crash barrier as an independent, non-structural element that was not connected to the Metro Rail’s main structural components.

Based on a technical clarification obtained from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited, HMRL said there was no indication that the excavation had adversely affected the structural integrity of pillars C-1192 and C-1193.

An HMRL source said B. Ramana Reddy was a director of both Zruti Solutions Private Limited and Zreni Solution Ltd. “There are 57 Metro Rail stations in the city and parking sites at 30 stations. Most of these sites were awarded to either Zruti Solutions Private Limited or Zreni Solution Ltd for developing parking facilities,” the source said.

Although HMRL issued its clarification on Saturday, MMC officials had decided earlier to initiate criminal proceedings against the company.
