MLA Challenges BRS Over Kondagattu Temple Funds
Questioning the previous government’s record, the MLA challenged BRS leaders to prove that even a single rupee was brought to the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple during their 10-year rule: Reports
KARIMNAGAR: Choppadandi MLA and District Congress Committee (DCC) president Medipally Satyam launched a sharp attack on the Opposition BRS and its leader, former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, during a press conference at the DCC office in Karimnagar on Wednesday.
Questioning the previous government’s record, the MLA challenged BRS leaders to prove that even a single rupee was brought to the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple during their 10-year rule. He said he would quit politics if such a claim were proven.
Expressing disappointment over Chandrashekar Rao’s role as Leader of the Opposition, Satyam said that despite his long political experience, the former chief minister appeared reluctant to attend the Assembly and raise public issues. He described the Assembly as a temple of democracy meant for debate and discussion, and termed it unfortunate that Chandrashekar Rao attended a recent session only briefly to mark his attendance.
The MLA alleged that the people of Telangana had effectively given a political setback to the BRS in both Assembly and Parliament elections, but claimed the party’s attitude had not changed.
On a positive note, Satyam announced that Pawan Kalyan, Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, had responded positively to his request for support to the Kondagattu Temple. Through Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, funds amounting to ₹35.19 crore have been sanctioned for the temple’s development.
He said the funds would be used for the construction of a 100-room guest house and a Mala-Viramana Mandapam for devotees. Satyam added that he, along with Pawan Kalyan, would participate in the foundation stone-laying ceremony scheduled for January 3, and thanked the Andhra Pradesh government on behalf of the people of the Choppadandi constituency.
The MLA said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was committed to the holistic development of the Kondagattu Temple. A comprehensive master plan is being prepared, and the state government would soon take up large-scale infrastructure works to develop the shrine into a major spiritual destination in the region.
