Miss World Event: Government Plans To Showcase Telangana’s Rich Historical And Cultural Heritage

Hyderabad: Leveraging the Miss World competition as a global platform, the Telangana government has planned to showcase Telangana’s rich historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage to the world during the event.

With representatives from 120 countries and live broadcasts in over 150 nations, the Miss World event will spotlight Telangana’s tourism potential. The government has designed special initiatives to promote the State as a multidimensional tourism hub on the global map, according to a statement issued on Sunday.

In 2024, Telangana welcomed 1,55,113 international tourists and the State government aimed to significantly boost these numbers through the Miss World platform.

The State government has also set strategic goals to position Telangana as a cultural, historical, and modern tourism hub in addition to boosting employment through tourism-linked industries like hospitality, handicrafts, and heritage conservation, besides highlighting infrastructure, safety, and investor-friendly policies to attract global capital.

The statement further stated that the Miss World event will serve as a catalyst for Telangana’s global branding, showcasing its UNESCO sites, eco-tourism spots, medical facilities, and vibrant culture. With this initiative, the State aims to emerge as a must-visit destination for travelers seeking a blend of tradition and modernity.

According to the Miss World contestants’ itinerary, the contestants will take part in a heritage walk from Charminar to Laad Bazaar to highlight Hyderabad’s cultural legacy on May 12. They will visit Chowmahalla Palace, symbolizing the grandeur of the old city on May 13.

The contestants will explore Warangal’s Thousand Pillar Temple, Warangal Fort, and Ramappa Temple, which is a UNESCO world heritage site and witness the traditional perini dance at Ramappa on May 14.

They will visit Yadagirigutta Temple as part of a spiritual tour on May 15 apart from participating in an interactive session at Pochampally to showcase handloom weaving and textile artistry on the same day.

On May 16, the contestants will visit Hyderabad’s leading hospitals to promote medical tourism and Pillalamarri tree in Mahabubnagar and Experium Park in Hyderabad. They would tour Ramoji Film City, one of the world’s largest film studios on May 17 and Telangana Police Integrated Command and Control Center on May 18 to highlight safety initiatives apart from attending Sunday Funday Carnival at Tank Bund.

The contestants will participate in arts and crafts workshops at Shilparamam and attend an IPL Match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal on May 21.
