Minor Girl Assaulted Repeatedly, Accused Arrested

WARANGAL: A 38-year-old man was arrested by Matwada police on Thursday following his alleged sexual assault on a minor girl staying in a hostel on multiple occasions and causing her to become pregnant.

According to the police, the accused Sangala Vijay Kumar, who was known to the victim’s family, took the girl out of the hostel several times on the pretext of buying her snacks, but he sexually assaulted her. He allegedly threatened to kill her family members if she disclosed the assaults to anyone, leaving the girl too frightened to speak about the abuse.

The matter came to light recently when the girl fell ill and complained of abdominal pain. When her mother questioned her, she disclosed the alleged assaults. A medical examination subsequently confirmed that the girl was pregnant, following which her mother lodged a complaint with the police.

Police registered a case and recorded the girl’s statement through a Bharosa Centre before conducting medical examinations. The accused was apprehended during vehicle checks though he allegedly attempted to evade the police. A motorcycle used in the offence was also seized.

A case was registered against the accused under the POSCO act. He was produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody for 15 days..
