Warangal: The state government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, will create job and livelihood opportunities by filling 2 lakh vacancies in a phased manner, said endowment minister Konda Surekha while inaugurating a Mega Job Mela in Warangal (East) on Friday. The event, held at the MK Naidu Convention Hall and also attended by panchayat raj minister Seethakka, district collector Satya Sharada, and municipal commissioner Ashwini Tanaji Wakade, saw over 65 multinational companies offering job opportunities based on skill and merit.

Minister Surekha highlighted that the government has already provided 59,000 government jobs within a year, a milestone reflecting Telangana’s proactive employment policies and its emergence as a hub for national and international investments. She encouraged youth to seize these opportunities, emphasising that employment not only builds self-satisfaction but also fosters skill development and long-term growth.

Minister Seethakka praised the Chief Minister’s vision, noting that the job fair is historic in fulfilling the promise made during Telangana’s statehood movement to address unemployment. She announced that the mela alone is expected to generate around 11,000 jobs, with an additional 14,000 Anganwadi positions to be declared soon, urging job seekers not to miss out on any opportunity.

However, the event was marred by a stampede-like incident when an overwhelming crowd rushed the venue shortly after the inauguration. The sudden surge of job seekers led to congestion and chaos at the entrance, causing the main gate’s glass doors to shatter and injuring three women. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, as authorities worked swiftly to restore order.
