Milk Van Comes In Contact With Wire, Catches Fire

HYDERABAD: A stationary milk van of Vijaya Milk caught fire after the vehicle came in contact with a live wire that fell on it at Kothagudem under Abdullapurmet police station limits on Wednesday.
According to police, the van driver Chinthakunta Jayaraj, 51, lodged a complaint at the police station stating that at 12.00 hrs he started from L.B. Nagar towards Vijayawada in the van having registration number AP-39-VE-5007.
“At about 12.50 hours when Jayaraj reached near the fruit market at Kothagudem, he parked the van by the side of the road to have tea at 13.00 hrs when he noticed that the vehicle caught fire,” police said.
Upon being informed, police team along with a fire tender rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. The fire started when the live wire from an electric pole fell on the vehicle’s tyre and soon the flames spread to the driver’s cabin, which was completely gutted, a police officer said.

Based on driver’s complaint, a case was registered and the investigation is underway, a police officer disclosed.
