Milad-un-Nabi To Be Celebrated Grandly In Telangana
Shuja Ifteqari, a member of the committee, said, “We requested Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to make arrangements for decorations and lighting at all historic and popular mosques and dargahs across the state.
Hyderabad: This year’s Milad-un-Nabi will be marked on a grand scale in Telangana as it coincides with the 1,500th birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad. The leaders of Markazi Milad Juloos Committee, who interacted with Deccan Chronicle, said the festival will be observed from September 5, with the main procession scheduled for September 14 across the state.
The decision to space out the dates was taken in view of Ganesh Chaturthi immersions, to avoid any untoward incidents. The committee noted that the practice of scheduling the Milad procession separately was first introduced in 2024. At that time, the committee had announced plans to hold an elaborate celebration for the 1,500th birth anniversary.
Shuja Ifteqari, a member of the committee, said, “We requested Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to make arrangements for decorations and lighting at all historic and popular mosques and dargahs across the state. He has agreed to our request. The arrangements will be in place from September 5 till the procession on September 14.”
Hafiz Muzaffar, convener of the committee, added, “We cancelled the procession for the last two years to maintain communal harmony. We have assured the Chief Minister that we will always stand first in protecting peace and harmony.”
Committee members, along with AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, met the Chief Minister and discussed the festival arrangements. Milad-un-Nabi, commemorating the birth of Prophet Mohammad, is among the most significant festivals for the Muslim community.
