Medak Police Solves Mystery Behind Youth’s Murder, 2 Held
The accused killed the youth for threatening to post photos of a minor girl on social media
Hyderabad: The Medak police on Thursday resolved the mystery behind the murder of a 21-year-old youth Mohammed Sabil of Borabanda with the arrest of two persons including his relative in Shivampet.
Toopran Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) J Narender Goud, addressing a press conference here on Thursday, said the arrested persons have been identified as Syed Afsar (34) and his friend P Santosh (39), both natives of Sangareddy district.
Sabil, a car denting and painting worker fell in love with Asfar’s cousin and allegedly eloped with her 15 days ago. After much persuasion by the girl’s family members stating that the girl was a minor and the marriage would be performed after she becomes major, Sabil dropped the girl at her house in Borabanda.
But Sabil continued to harass Afsar, informing that he had photos taken with the girl and he would upload them on various social media platforms. In spite of requesting him to delete photos, Sabil did not relent and continued to threaten Afsar.
Fed up with Sabil’s attitude, Afsar decided to eliminate him and took the help of Santosh. As per their plan, Afsar called Sabil and urged him to accompany him to Hyderabad in his car. After Sabil gave his consent, Afsar picked him up at New Bridge in Tulasi Nagar and reached the outskirts of Makhdumpur village and urged him to delete photos.
When Sabil refused to do so, Afsar banged the former’s head to a wall. After he collapsed, Afsar smashed Sabil’s head with a boulder, killing him on the spot. The incident came to light after the police received information from the Panchayat Secretary about the body at Makhdumpur village.
After identifying the body, the police booked a case and arrested Afsar and Santosh at Shivampet. The DSP appreciated Inspector Ranga Krishna and Sub-Inspector Ch Madhusudan Reddy for detecting the case.
