Hyderabad: Medak district quick response team (QRT) police, along with village youth, risked their lives and rescued a person who was being swept away by floodwaters of the Gunduvagu stream under the Tekmal police limits.

A villager named Ramavath Nandu, who was crossing a flooded bridge, was swept away and managed to hold on to a rock.

Upon receiving information, the Medak district QRT police rushed to the scene. A QRT member and Home Guard Mahesh and two other youths reached the middle of the bridge with the help of a rope and rescued Nandu.

DGP Dr Jitender and additional DGP (law & order) Mahesh M. Bhagwat commended the police and locals. They have appreciated district SP D. Uday Kumar Reddy and QRT head constable Bandi Srinivas and constables Suresh Nayak, Krishna, and Ramesh.
