Manuguru Inspector, Big TV Reporter Held In Bribe Case
ACB officials caught both the Inspector and the Reporter red-handed
Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday afternoon arrested Manuguru police station Inspector Soma Satish Kumar and Big TV reporter Mittapalli Gopi in connection with a bribe case
Acting on instructions of Satish Kumar, Gopi demanded a bribe of Rs.4 lakh from the complainant and accepted a part payment of Rs.1 lakh as bribe and was caught red-handed by the ACB officials of Khammam Range.
Following instructions from Satish Kumar, Gopi acted as an intermediary and played a key role in facilitating the deal between the complainant and Satish Kumar for extending an official favours specifically for not including the names of the complainant and his nephew in crime number 150/2025, registered under Sections 318(4), 329 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Section 5 of the Telangana State Gaming (Amendment) Act (TSGLA), at Manuguru police station.
The chemical test conducted during the trap operation yielded positive results on both hand fingers of Gopi and on his right-side trouser pocket. The identity of the complainant is being withheld for security reasons, the ACB officials said.
They said both the Inspector and Reporter were produced before the special court for ACB cases after which the court remanded them to judicial custody.
