Hyderabad: An unidentified man, suspected to be a beggar, was killed in a hit-and-run incident on the Nagarjunasagar Highway in Ibrahimpatnam during the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the police, the deceased is believed to be in his forties and found with hardly any clothes on. He suffered severe head and body injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the road.

“The incident occurred around 4 am. Due to the rain, CCTV cameras could not clearly capture the vehicle involved. The footage available is not detailed enough to identify it,” sub-inspector Nagaraju said.

Teams are now reviewing footage from nearby and extended areas to trace any vehicle showing signs of damage or driving in a rash and negligent manner. “We are checking other cameras to see if any vehicle matching the suspicion was captured in the vicinity. So far, the make, colour and registration number remain unknown,” the SI added.

A case was registered with the Ibrahimpatnam police and probe is underway to ascertain the details of the deceased and identify the accused driver.
