Hyderabad: The government railway police (GRP) on Tuesday nabbed a person on charges of snatching gold chains of train passengers.

The arrested person was a resident of Mothilal Reddappa Pawar alias Mothilal (24) of Pune in Maharashtra. He was involved in two snatching cases that were reported in the limits of Secunderabad railway police station limits.

Hailing from Karnataka, Pawar moved to Pune seeking livelihood as a labourer. He was involved in 30 property offences. As a result, he went to jail multiple times. Even after being recently released on bail, he did not change his behavior and continued to commit offences.

Due to the financial crisis, he decided to resume his criminal activities, specifically targeting train passengers. A few days ago, he faced financial difficulties as he needed to pay his advocate's fees and also wanted to secure the release of his associates.

Consequently, he returned to Hyderabad and decided to commit property offences targeting women passengers. Accordingly, he snatched two gold chains, one in Palnadu express on July 14 and another in MMTS train on July 19.

After receiving complaints, the police booked separate cases. Based on information, the railway police apprehended him at Secunderabad railway station while moving in a suspicious manner. After being grilled, admitted to the crime.
