Man Held For Barber’s Murder
Police said the deceased Jampula Mahesh, 24, was found with severe cut wounds on the throat and head. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother on December 25, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Hyderabad: A 27-year-old man was arrested on charges of murdering a barber at Win City Venture in Kaveliguda on December 24, Shamshabad police said, on Wednesday.
Police said the deceased Jampula Mahesh, 24, was found with severe cut wounds on the throat and head. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother on December 25, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Police said that during investigation, witnesses were examined and technical evidence was collected, including call detail records (CDRs). Investigators found that accused Bapuran Ratnam, 27, a cab driver, had developed a one-sided feelings for a woman, who was also in a relationship with the deceased. Believing Mahesh to be an obstacle, the accused allegedly planned to eliminate him.
According to police, the accused monitored the victim’s movements, procured an axe and hid it near the crime scene. He allegedly disguised himself and sprinkled chilli powder in the eyes of the victim and attacked him. He then wrapped the murder weapon in a plastic cover and hid it in the bushes.
Based on witnesses’ statement and material evidence, the accused was apprehended on December 31 near Borabanda. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, which led the police to the murder weapon. The accused was remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
