Man Harassing Wife for More Dowry Gets Jail
Rajanna Sircilla court convicts 48-year-old after years of persistent dowry demands and harassment.
Karimnagar(Sircilla): A 48-year-old man was sentenced to one and a half years in prison and fined Rs 3,000 for harassing his wife over additional dowry demands in Mustabad mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district on Thursday.
The verdict was pronounced by First Class Magistrate Judge Praveen at the Siricilla court. According to Mustabad sub-inspector Ch. Ganesh, the accused, Vanama Yadgiri from Pulluru village in Siddipet Mandal, married Lakshmi from Mustabad in 1996, and the couple has two sons.
Over the years, Yadgiri repeatedly forced his wife to get extra dowry. Lakshmi, unable to endure the harassment, lodged a complaint at the Mustabad police station in 2015. Following the complaint, the police registered a case and a charge sheet was filed by then-sub-inspector Maruthi.
During the trial, public prosecutor Sandeep presented the case, supported by testimonies from SI Ganesh and five witnesses. After a thorough investigation, the court found Yadgiri guilty of the charges, leading to his sentencing.
