Man Gets 25 Years RI in Gang Rape Case in Secunderabad
The court has also asked to pay a compensation of Rs.5 lakh to the 14-year-old girl, who was the victim in the case.
Hyderabad: A local court here on Monday sentenced a private employee to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in connection with a gang rape case registered against him in 2020.
The XII Additional Sessions Judge, T. Anitha, held the accused Kamalakar Shiva Kumar alias Shiva, a private employee and resident of Secunderabad, guilty and sentenced him to 25 years of RI in the case registered at Chilkalguda police station.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs.5,000 for the offence committed under Section 5(g) read with six of the POCSO Act and in default of payment of fine amount, the court asked the accused to undergo simple imprisonment of six months.
The accused was further sentenced to undergo RI for two years for the offence committed under Section 506 of IPC. In default of payment of fine amount, the court further directed him to undergo simple imprisonment for three months. All the convictions would run concurrently.
In all, three people committed the crime. Of the three, Shiva Kumar was a major at the time of the incident, while his two other associates were minors whose case was heard by the Juvenile Justice Court. The court gave three years punishment for the two minors.
