KARIMNAGAR: A 24-year-old man, Marripelli Sainath, was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment by the district court for raping a minor girl in Jagtial district. The court also imposed a fine of ₹2,000. The verdict was delivered on Tuesday by District Principal Judge C. Ratna Padmavathi.

The court directed that the minor victim be granted a compensation of ₹2 lakh.

According to police, the offence occurred under the jurisdiction of Mallapur Police Station, and a case was filed against Sainath under the POCSO Act on April 7, 2021.

Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar stated that no criminal can escape justice, adding that police and prosecutors are committed to ensuring thorough legal investigation and conviction of offenders.

The SP commended special public prosecutor Ramakrishna Rao, inspector L. Srinu, sub-inspector Ravinder, CMS SI Srikanth, court constable Ranjith, and CMS constables Raju and Sridhar for their dedicated efforts in securing the conviction.
