HYDERABAD: A long-standing roadblock in Madhuranagar was cleared after HYDRAA officials removed a metal railing running along the centre of a key internal road, allowing smoother traffic and pedestrian movement.

The railing, originally installed above a boxed stormwater drain for safety, had over the years become a nuisance, splitting the road and encouraging illegal parking on both sides. School buses, ambulances, and even residents found it difficult to pass, especially during peak hours. “It used to take several minutes just to cross a few metres,” said a local resident, pointing to a stretch that once remained chronically jammed.

Following repeated complaints to traffic police and submissions via HYDRAA’s Prajavani platform, officials inspected the spot and confirmed the slab over the box drain was structurally safe. The railing, nearly 900 metres long and 5 feet wide, was subsequently removed, creating a wider, unobstructed carriageway.

Residents offered milk as a symbolic gesture of gratitude. “It’s now easier for school buses and emergency vehicles to move through,” said a parent. Locals thanked the HYDRAA team and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for the prompt resolution, calling it a “rare example of government responding swiftly to civic grievances.”
