HYDERABAD: Residents of Yerraboda and surrounding areas under Rajendranagar police limits reported loud explosive sounds and tremors on Tuesday morning, prompting police teams to rush to the scene.

Police said the sound was recorded on CCTV cameras at 9.14 am, and teams reached the locality by 9.45 am. “We thoroughly examined the area for over eight hours and found no evidence of a blast. It was a thud sound,” said S. Sreenivas, inspector.

Officials warned against spreading rumours of tremors or earthquakes on social media, saying such posts were creating panic. Statements from locals indicated they had never experienced such loud sounds before. CLUES teams inspected the area but found no property damage.

SHO R. Venkatesh said CCTV footage even showed a pet dog reacting to the sound. “The cause is yet to be known. Tremors or earthquakes have been ruled out,” he said.

During searches, police found a car damaged by a fallen tree. “There are possibilities that the thud sound came from the tree falling on the parked car,” Venkatesh added.
