Lokayukta Takes Suo motu on DC Report

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Lokayukta has suo motu taken up the Deccan Chronicle report on the series of road accidents, some of them fatal, on the Nagaram road in the Keesara police limits and asked the officials concerned to file a report by July 18.

Deccan Chronicle, in the report ‘Biker`s death: 2 cones put up’ on July 9 had highlighted the negligence of the authorities in completing road works at Nagaram for more than eight months, even as several accidents had occurred, caused by loose gravel laid on the sides of the road.

Officially, five cases of road accidents were registered including a fatality on July 8.

On the directions of Lokayuktha Justice A. Rajashekar Reddy, the office of the Lokayukta registered the complaint and issued notices to the commissioner and director of municipal administration, the municipal commissioner of Nagaram Municipality, the Medchal Malkajgiri collector and the superintending engineer of roads and buildings.
