Adilabad: The Kuntala waterfall, now gushing with flood water from recent rains, is drawing many tourists and visitors from across the state. The waterfall has received significant amounts of water from the Kadam Vagu and other streams due to heavy rainfall upstream.
Forest officials have lifted the restrictions that were imposed a few days ago, allowing visitors to descend the stairs and enjoy the waterfall up close. For the past three days, tourists have been allowed to approach the waterfall, and many have taken photographs and selfies against the stunning backdrop of Kuntala, sharing their experiences on social media.
A large number of tourists visited Kuntala Waterfall over the last weekend. The nearby Pochera waterfall also received substantial floodwater in the Boath mandal area. Many visitors had been waiting for the right moment to explore Kuntala, especially after restrictions were placed on accessing the area during the heavy rains.
Currently, the waterfall is experiencing a high flow of water, which has captivated many tourists. However, it may take some time before Kadam waterfall begins to receive fresh water instead of flood water. Kuntala waterfall is particularly beautiful when fed by fresh water.
Forest staff are monitoring tourist activity, warning visitors against entering the water, and informing them about potential dangers at the site. Anjaneyulu, a tourist from Adilabad, reported that nearly 500 visitors arrived from locations such as Hyderabad, Nizamabad, erstwhile Adilabad, Karimnagar, and Chandrapur in Maharashtra last Sunday. Families and groups of friends are traveling in private vehicles to enjoy the scenic beauty of Kuntala waterfall and the lush green hills surrounding it.
However, some tourists have expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of basic amenities. They believe that it would be beneficial to expedite the ongoing construction of the Haritha restaurant and cottages to ensure their completion as soon as possible.
