Konda Surekha Skipping Delhi Rally Fuels Speculation
Ever since she lost her berth in the Telangana cabinet, Surekha has stayed away from Congress party events, sparking speculation of a political switch.
Warangal:Warangal East MLA and former minister Konda Surekha’s absence from the Congress’ prestigious Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao public meeting in Delhi on Sunday has triggered political discussions in the region.
While most Congress leaders, MLAs, MPs and senior leaders attended the Delhi rally, absence of a key leader from her own party’s important programme assumes significance. Significantly, even Surekha’s close associates stayed away from the rally, raising questions about internal differences within Congress.
Since being dropped from the Telangana cabinet, her participation in government programmes has declined. She reportedly attended Dasara celebrations only for a limited time, indicating some discord. The former minister has remained largely detached from the ongoing construction of the super-speciality hospital in Warangal, a major achievement once completed. She remained missing when district in-charge minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy visited the hospital two days before Dasara to review construction work.
Adding to these developments, Surekha recently announced on X that she is withdrawing her earlier personal remarks against BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and expressed regret over them. The move has prompted questions about the strategy behind her decision to retract her remarks against KTR.
The various moves by the former minister have led to political circles trying to anticipate the next moves of the Konda couple. They are wondering whether the Kondas will continue in the Congress or explore an alternative political platform.
In particular, Surekha’s absence from the Delhi rally is being seen as a significant sign of impending developments in Warangal politics.
