Warangal: Former MLC Konda Muralidhar Rao, husband of endowments minister Konda Surekha, appeared before the Telangana Congress’ disciplinary committee at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Sunday. He explained to the committee, chaired by MP Mallu Ravi, the political rivalries between the Konda couple and party MLAs and leaders from the Warangal district.

Party MLAs Kadiyam Srihari, Naini Rajendar Reddy, Revuri Prakash Reddy, Gandra Satyanarayana, and K.R. Nagaraju, along with other leaders, had earlier lodged a complaint with the committee. They alleged that minister Konda exerted dominance in other constituencies, failed to collaborate with fellow party members, and sidelined them in the decision-making process. They also accused Murali of making derogatory remarks against party MLAs and leaders, which escalated tensions.

Leaders from Warangal united against the Konda couple, issuing an ultimatum that the party must choose between them and the Konda family. They even met AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud to submit their complaint to the disciplinary committee.

When Murali arrived at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday morning, some Congress leaders opposed his presence, as the committee was preparing to decide on the complaints. Frustrated, Murali questioned why, as a senior Congress leader, he could not visit Gandhi Bhavan or appear before the committee before a decision was made. This exchange briefly created a tense atmosphere at the venue.

It is reported that the Konda couple assured party members they would work to strengthen the party and refrain from interfering in other constituencies, adhering to party rules.
