Kodad Highway Death Not Accident, CCTV Shows Friend Kicked Victim Onto Road

Initially, police treated it as a road accident and detained the lorry driver. When the driver claimed he was not at fault, officials collected CCTV footage from the place where the accident occurred, which showed the actual cause of death.

Suryapet: In what was treated as an accidental death of a youth on a highway in Kodad, Suryapet district, Telangana, police discovered he died after being kicked by another person and falling under a passing lorry. The details came to light through CCTV visuals from near the scene.

As per reports, Kodad Police stated that on June 30, three friends - Ramesh, Mahesh, and Yakub went to a bar near Khammam Crossroads to drink. An argument broke out between Ramesh and Mahesh, and Yakub tried to intervene and settle the issue. Police said Mahesh abused Yakub, accusing him of supporting Ramesh. Later, as Yakub was walking on the road, Mahesh ran towards him, and as Yakub hurriedly moved away, Mahesh allegedly kicked him. Losing balance, Yakub fell over a divider and came under a passing lorry. He suffered severe injuries and died while undergoing treatment in hospital.

CCTV footage showed Mahesh kicking Yakub while talking on the mobile phone and walking away quickly from the place after he fell under the wheels of the lorry.

Based on the evidence, police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating further.
