Hyderabad: With the Centre deciding to conduct the caste enumeration along with national census next year, the state BJP has decided to take the issue to the masses and explain how the survey to be carried out by the Centre would bring a sea change in their lives. Future policies and schemes will be framed in accordance with the outcome of the caste survey, the party will tell the people.

The issue was discussed at the Telangana BJP office-bearers meeting here on Monday. Telangana BJP president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy, BJP OBC Morcha president Dr K. Laxman and BC Welfare Association president R. Krishnaiah, party MP from AP, were present.

Kishan Redy asked the party leaders to meet leaders from different caste groups and explain how the Centre was going to conduct a comprehensive caste survey, enlisting every single detail. The government would get approval from Parliament to conduct the caste enumeration along with the national census, he said.

Later speaking to media, Krishnaiah said that the era of BC communities had begun in the country. In fact, the big change in the lives of the Backward Classes had started ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also hails from the community, took over the reins of the country. he said.

On the claims of Congress leaders taking credit for Central government conducting caste enumeration, Krishnaiah asked why the Congress, which has been in power for over 60 years, had not conducted the caste census. Phase-wise changes will come in the lives of the Backward Classes in the near future. The government will frame policies based on the outcome of caste enumeration and it would make a big positive impact in the socio, political, educational and employment conditions of the community, Hrishnaiah said.
