Kishan Reddy Accuses Rahul Of Undermining Institutions
Rahul Gandhi regularly targeted institutions such as the Election Commission of India (ECI): G. Kishan Reddy
HYDERABAD: Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy on Friday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of following a “strange, peculiar and dangerous trend” of making wild allegations against constitutional institutions whenever they do not act in his political interest.
In a statement, Reddy said Rahul Gandhi regularly targeted institutions such as the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), the judiciary and Parliament to weaken their credibility. He alleged that the Congress party’s “bankrupt mindset” was reflected in its campaign to undermine constitutional institutions. The party was spreading falsehoods, provoking youth through agitations and creating fear among people by raising doubts about lawful institutions, he said.
People understood the Congress’ political conspiracy to pressure, humiliate, threaten and abuse persons holding constitutional positions through protests and offensive language, Reddy said and added that it was not the duty of the ECI to ensure Rahul Gandhi's victory in elections or make him Prime Minister. The Congress leader should earn the trust of the people, gather support and secure votes to win elections. However, he is continuously failing to do so, Reddy indicated.
The union minister said Rahul Gandhi had also developed a habit of finding fault with Supreme Court judgments when they were not in his favour and questioning the credibility of the apex court. He said Rahul behaved in the same manner when the CAG report on the Rafale fighter aircraft purchase agreement was tabled in Parliament, terming it a “Chowkidar Auditor General” report.
Kishan Reddy also accused Rahul Gandhi of targeting prominent educational institutions, including the IITs, central universities and the Indian Statistical Institute, by portraying them as centres of corruption and irregularities. He alleged that Gandhi had used foreign universities, international platforms and foreign media to promote his political narratives and damage India’s reputation.
Kishan Reddy said Gandhi had also criticised the central armed forces and the Indian Army. He had followed a similar vendetta against former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao and humiliated former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2013. Such actions were lowering his position as the Leader of the Opposition, he said.
“The people will never again allow this country to be ruled under your leadership or your party’s leadership, which is marked by family rule, corruption scandals and irregularities,” Reddy said.
