Kishan Reddy: 65% of Secunderabad Station Modernisation Works Completed
Among India's busiest railway stations, Secunderabad handles nearly 180 trains and caters to an average 1.5 lakh passengers everyday.
Hyderabad: Around 65 per cent of the works related to modernization of Secunderabad railway station has been completed, according to Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday.
The Secunderabad Railway Station is rapidly taking shape as a world-class railway hub, setting new benchmarks in passenger infrastructure and connectivity. Among India's busiest railway stations, Secunderabad handles nearly 180 trains and caters to an average 1.5 lakh passengers everyday.
With redevelopment progressing at a brisk pace, the project is set to transform the travel experience through modern amenities and seamless multimodal connectivity, he said.
Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this transformative redevelopment will redefine Secunderabad railway station as a modern gateway to Telangana and a shining example of world-class railway infrastructure. The modernized railway station is expected to be inaugurated either in January or February 2027.
The key features of the station include iconic station buildings, two-level air concourse, through roof over platforms, multi-level parking facilities, 26 lifts and 32 escalators, metro connectivity via skywalks, modern passenger amenities, solar power and EV charging and advanced security systems.
The works that were completed so far are temporary booking office, Railway Protection Force (RPF) building, Kazipet-end Foot Over Bridge (FoB), south station building, south-side approach road, south-side basement works and south arrival area.
The works that were in progress are north multi-level parking, north station building, air concourse construction, cover-over-platform works, Hyderabad-end FoB, travelator-integrated FOBs, underground water tanks, sewage treatment plant (STP) and metro connectivity skywalk.
