HYDERABAD: Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday dismissed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s remarks as “empty rattling” and said he was prepared to face any challenge thrown by the Congress government.

Responding sharply to the Chief Minister’s warning over paddy procurement, Kishan Reddy said no threat could stop him from serving the people and accused Revanth Reddy of resorting to cheap political theatrics to cover up his government’s failures.

Kishan Reddy alleged that the Congress government had failed on every major promise made to different sections of society. Dalits, he said, were still waiting for the promised financial support; backward classes had not received the assured funding; unemployed youth were denied the job calendar and unemployment allowance; women had not been given the promised assistance; farmers were yet to get loan waivers; and farm workers had not received the pledged support. He said these disappointed groups would one day protest in front of the Chief Minister’s residence and even Rahul Gandhi’s house in Delhi.

The Union minister claimed that Revanth Reddy was attacking BJP leaders out of frustration over his inability to deliver on election promises. He said the Chief Minister should focus on governance rather than indulging in mudslinging, adding that the Centre had sanctioned projects worth `28,000 crore for Telangana in just one month.

Kishan Reddy also said BJP leaders had not switched parties for personal gain, unlike some rivals.

He said he would continue to work for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Telangana and urged people of all political leanings to participate in International Yoga Day celebrations at LB Stadium on June 21.
