Residents expressed alarm over the recurring incidents linked to the banned string, pointing out that despite repeated warnings and restrictions, Chinese manja continues to be sold and used illegally. They stressed that the hazard is not limited to pedestrians and motorists but also threatens birds and animals. Citizens urged authorities to intensify checks on its sale and usage, especially during the kite‑flying season.

Police officials said no formal complaint has been lodged in connection with the incident, and hence no case has been registered so far. They reiterated that the sale and use of Chinese manja is illegal and punishable under law.

Meanwhile, police and traffic authorities have stepped up public advisories, cautioning residents to remain vigilant through the weekend. Two‑wheeler riders have been specifically asked to wear protective clothing such as full‑sleeve attire and a shawl or dupatta around the neck to guard against cuts and injuries caused by stray kite strings.
