Kidney Transplant Racket: Telangana Govt Forms Committee for Inquiry

Hyderabad: A day after the Kidney transplant racket busted at Alakananda Hospital in Saroornagar, the state government has formed an inquiry committee headed by Dr Nagendar Bejamshetty, the former Superintendent of Osmania General Hospital. The committee has already visited the hospital and is scheduled to meet the victims at Gandhi Hospital for further investigation. The committee is tasked with submitting a comprehensive report to the government.
In a major crackdown on illegal kidney transplants, a racket operating out of Alakananda Hospital in Saroornagar, Hyderabad, was busted on Tuesday. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of law enforcement and health authorities raided the hospital and uncovered a network exploiting women by luring them with promises of financial compensation before conducting unauthorized organ transplants.
One person has been arrested in connection with the case, while others involved in the racket managed to flee the scene.
