Adilabad: Visiting the Khandala Ghats, nestled amidst hills and blanketed in drizzle, has become a rare and delightful experience for tourists in Adilabad district. Known for their natural beauty, the ghats offer a pleasant climate and lush greenery, attracting nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

A tank brimming with floodwater near Mamidikori village, surrounded by hills, offers a breathtaking view from the Khandala Ghats. Scattered villages dotting the region further enhance the scenic charm.

Tourists, especially youth and college students, are reaching Khandala via Indravelli, Chichdhari, and Pataguda, many riding in on bikes to enjoy the winding routes and vibrant landscape. A 20-km ride from Adilabad town provides a memorable journey, particularly during light rain, which adds to the ghat’s allure.

Witnessing drifting clouds over the hills and rain in the distance is a surreal experience for visitors. At times, the clouds appear like fog, enveloping the hilltops in a mystical veil. The BT road leading from Adilabad town to Khandala shines under the rain, guiding travellers deeper into the forested hills.

In recent days, large crowds, especially youth, from across the erstwhile Adilabad, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and even Hyderabad, have visited the ghats. The area has gained popularity as a photography and nature selfie spot.

Jadhav Rohan of Indravelli, who visited Khandala with friends, said the place offers a perfect escape into nature. He suggested that the tourism department could enhance the experience by constructing a watchtower at the ghats.

Similarly, Kodapa Naveen from Dahiguda in Adilabad Rural mandal noted the surge in visitors, including families, who come to enjoy the scenic beauty and capture memorable photographs. He urged tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao to visit Khandala and initiate steps to develop it as a formal tourist destination.
