Nalgonda: Khammam district collector Anudeep Durishetti announced that the fourth Saturday of every month will be observed as ‘No Bag Day’ in all government schools across the district.

He launched the programme at the Government Primary School in Indira Nagar, Khammam, on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that specially designed activities would be conducted on No Bag Day to identify and encourage students’ talents.

The initiative, he explained, will encourage students to participate in sports and cultural activities while also raising awareness about environmental protection. It will further help students focus on learning by reducing the pressure of homework.

The collector added that on No Bag Day, schools would organise study tours, visits to government offices, and various interactive programmes for students. He also stressed that the Ganesh festival should be celebrated with clay idols, reminding everyone that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.

During the event, Durishetti interacted with students and observed their preparation of greeting cards, posters, and paper crafts.
