Kazipet Should Be Made Railway Division HQ: NFIR

WARANGAL: Kazipet should be made a separate railway division headquarters by reorganising the existing Secunderabad division, NFIR general secretary Dr Marri Raghavaiah has demanded.

Addressing the Divisional Loco Summit organised by the South Central Railway Employees Sangh at Kazipet on Wednesday, Raghavaiah said the vast jurisdiction of the Secunderabad division was creating administrative and operational difficulties. A separate Kazipet division would help streamline railway administration and improve train operations, he said.

He said the union would soon prepare a detailed proposal for the creation of the new division and submit it to the railway authorities. The issue would also be taken up with senior railway officials and the Centre, he added.

Highlighting Kazipet’s long-standing importance on the railway map, Raghavaiah said the region handled a large volume of passenger and railway employee movement. A separate division would facilitate better infrastructure development, passenger amenities and focused implementation of railway projects in the region, he said.

The summit also discussed various issues faced by loco pilots. Raghavaiah explained the progress made by the union in taking employees’ issues to the Railway Board.

NFIR assistant general secretary Bharani Bhanu Prasad said loco pilots had brought several issues to the union’s notice and assured that efforts would be made for their resolution.

He also said the union was examining the proposal to establish a crew depot at Warangal and that the required documentation would soon be prepared and submitted to the railway authorities.

Divisional secretary Prabhuraj, president Kotha Muralikrishna, zonal secretary K.V.R. Prasad, assistant general secretary Ramakrishna, deputy divisional secretary Dileep and others participated.
