Kavitha Slams BRS, Calls Party Constitution a ‘Joke’
Kavitha accused the BRS of corruption in the construction of Collectorate buildings, citing examples of flooding in Siddipet and Siricilla, and claimed that proper procedures were ignored during her suspension.
Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi leader K. Kavitha on Monday slammed her former party, the BRS, and its leaders, saying it “lacked ethics, values and morals” and that as a party, it had “no constitutional values.”
During an emotional speech in the Legislative Council, during which she was in tears at times, Kavitha urged Council Chairman G. Sukhender Reddy to accept her resignation as MLC. Kavitha said her resignation had been pending since September last, and thanked Sukhender Reddy for giving her an opportunity to speak in the House one last time.
Kavitha said the BRS had suspended her without as much as asking her for an explanation of her criticism of the party, adding that the BRS was plagued by absence of ethics, morals, and absence of respect for constitutional values.
Kavitha said leaders from within the BRS and the Congress were making it seem that her fight to save the BRS from ‘devils within’ was about fighting for property or assets. “This is about self-respect, not about wealth. I will not trade my dignity. KCR is like a ‘God’ but is surrounded by devils like Harish Rao,” she said, adding that this was the reason why the BRS failed on many fronts and failed to return to power.
Kavitha, who later marched to the Telangana Martyrs Memorial opposite the Assembly complex, said she will launch a new political party which will be a genuine alternative for the people. Earlier in the House she declared that she may be alone now, but she will return with strength and force in the future.
