Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha mounted an explosive attack on BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, alleging that he, as then-minister, had approved questionable land deals favouring leaders in the BRS and real estate businessmen.

Kavitha declared, “I will be the CM one day”, and said she would not spare the “mastermind wily fox” behind the attacks on her by BRS leaders. Kavitha, who was addressing a press meet, said in response to a question on whether or not former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was aware of the land deals: “KCR should say whether he knows these things are not.”

In a clear attack that pointed to Rama Rao, Kavitha declared: “No more niceties, I will not keep quiet when they are targeting my husband for no reason. We never sought any favours even when I was in the BRS. This is uncalled for.”

With a ‘wily fox’ in the background, some ministers in the BRS government, and MLAs grabbed land and indulged in corruption, she said. “By approving land use change to favour his followers, KTR opened a window into conversion of industrial lands for residential use. He opened the window and the Congress government has opened the door,” she said.

Taking serious objections to BRS MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao, and BJP Assembly floor leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy for dragging her husband’s name into land-related cases, with which he had no connection according to her, Kavitha said she was issuing legal notices to them asking for an unconditional apology. She also issued a legal notice to a vernacular television news channel which was prominently carrying the comments of the two MLAs against her husband.

Alleging that it was Rama Rao’s signature as a minister that enabled Krishna Rao’s son to grab a 10-acre lake of which four acres was filled up for building villas, Kavitha said her revelation on Friday “is just the coin toss. There will be more in the game.”

Kavitha also alleged that BRS MLC Pochampalli Srinivas Reddy, and Krishna Rao’s son were benamis for Rama Rao who built real estate properties after converting industrial land into residential plots.
