Adilabad: Telangana Rakshana Samiti (TRS) chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Monday demanded that new underground mines be opened alongside opencast projects to generate employment, stating that the lives of Singareni workers had not seen change after the formation of Telangana.

Speaking to the media in Mancherial, she urged Union Minister for Mines G. Kishan Reddy to ensure allocation of a coal block in Telangana to the Singareni Collieries Company Limited.

Kavitha also paid tributes at the Indravelli martyrs memorial and said the party would draw inspiration from the martyrs to work for the rights of the people of Telangana.

She announced that a special wing for Adivasis would be constituted within the party to address issues faced by tribal communities in the State.
