Kavitha Revives ‘TRS’ Legacy: New Party Launch Sparks ‘Duplicity’ Row with BRS
Even the name of TRS of Kavitha’s party hides a bit more than what is easily visible, with a fourth part of the name staying buried in small print at the bottom of the party flag.
Hyderabad: Former BRS MLC and one-time MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha may have hoped to stir a hornets’ nest in her attempt to find a political place but, if her initial steps are any indication, her latest expedition of launching a political party appears to have all the hallmarks of duplicity, despite attempts to cloak it as a sincere attempt to improve the lot of the people.
Kavitha, who has been under a cloud ever since her name was linked to the Delhi liquor case scam in which she also spent several months in prison, and her later suspension from the BRS, been making attempts at some form of a redemption. Saturday’s launch of her party, TRS (Telangana Rashtra Sena), appears more of a venture to ride on the coattails of the original TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi), the party which helped her become an MP, and later after she lost the Lok Sabha elections the second time, helped her become an MLC.
Even the name of TRS of Kavitha’s party hides a bit more than what is easily visible, with a fourth part of the name staying buried in small print at the bottom of the party flag. In what could be construed by some as a possible act of duplicity, the full name never got mentioned officially, that Kavitha’s TRS of today, when fully spelt out, is Telangana Rashtra Sena Association.
The last word, hidden in small print at the bottom of the new party logo, was more like statutory cautions one associates with advertisements where the buyers or a product or service barely get to read as the advertisement quickly disappears from a TV screen.
In short, the party is clearly not the TRS as Kavitha claimed but TRSA; dropping the word ‘Association’ while speaking about the name could well be an attempt to claim the original TRS mantle, a task that might well prove a tall order for anyone.
While none from the BRS reacted and maintained a studied silence, the party’s social media handles were quick to hit back at Kavitha’s attempts pointing out the possible attempts at duplicity and calling out that “the original is always the original.”
