Karimnagar: Education Drive for Migrant Kids Sees Success
With the cooperation extended by the owners of the Brick Kilns, transportation and uniform was provided to the children.
Karimnagar: To attract the children of Migrant Labourers, a special education drive was conducted and by providing education to around 500 members of children in selected special schools successfully achieved fruitful results, said the District Collector Pamela Satpathy participating in the Athmeeya Sammelan programme held with migrant children, their parents, teachers, and brick kiln owners here at collectorate auditorium in Karimnagar on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Collector said that with an intention to bring the children of migrant workers closer to learning, the district administration along with the education department decided to conduct special classes for them. By selecting 16 schools, education was provided to around 500 members of children through specially appointed teaching staff from February.
With the cooperation extended by the owners of the Brick Kilns, transportation and uniform was provided to the children. By conducting health check-ups to all children necessary vaccinations were administered along with arranging for dental check-ups. For the children who belonged to Orissa state, books from their home state were brought to ensure continuity in their education.
In addition, the children are also provided with school bags, stationery, nutritious meals and self-defence training. With the dedication and commitment of teachers the children developed liking for the school and education yielding fruitful results.
Once they return to their home states, there is every possibility that they will not miss going to school and will definitely focus on education. They studied for a short period of time here, if they continue their education, they would reach greater heights in their future if the parents and brick kiln owners encourage the children accordingly, she added.
Later, the Collector Pamela Satpathy handed over appreciation certificates to the Brick kiln owners and felicitated the teachers. The cultural activities performed by the children on the occasion attracted many who attended for the event.
