Kamareddy Police Arrest 8 Poachers, Seize Arms, Hunting Material
Police crack down under Operation Kavach; country-made weapons recovered
Adilabad: Kamareddy police on Thursday arrested eight members of a poachers’ gang and seized from them five country-made guns, one air gun, material used for hunting, and two motor bikes.
Providing details, Kamareddy district SP M. Rajesh Chandra said police had been checking vehicles at Modi Chowrasta under Gandhari police station limits on Wednesday night as part of “Operation Kavach.” Seeing the ongoing check, five persons on two motorbikes turned back and tried to escape. However, police chased and caught them.
Police seized from them country-made guns, gunpowder, steel pellets, and potash. On interrogation, they said they had purchased the country-made guns from Aslam Chaush of Chinnarampur village in Banswada mandal of Kamareddy district. The gang members said they had been going to the forest to hunt herbivores in the wild. But they had turned back due to rain. Based on the information provided, police arrested another three persons.
The accused have been identified as Vislawath Arun, Vislawath Gopichand, Angoth Laxman, Vislawat Nanu, Vislawath Ganesh, all five of Gandipet thanda of Gandhari mandal, Salawath Chander of Hajipur village in Nasrullabad, Angoth Dharma Naik of Nagdhar Ramchander Thanda in Nizampet mandal of Sangareddy district, and Aslam Chaush of Banswada.
Rajesh Chandra said they will intensify their surveillance against poaching in the district. Sadashivnagar, Gandhari, and Tadwai police stations are conducting further investigations.
